Personal Assistance For Different Lives And Situations

Services & Support

Personal assistance should reflect the person receiving it. The support that matters to one adult, child or family may look very different from what matters to another. Explore the areas below to see which is most relevant to your situation.

Personal assistance for adults

Personal assistance should support you in living your life, not take it over. We want to understand how support fits around your routines, relationships, communication, work or studies, leisure and priorities.

Planning also needs to reflect the authority decision, employer responsibilities and practical circumstances.

Personal assistance for children & families

When a child needs personal assistance, the support becomes part of both the child’s and the family’s everyday life. We begin with the child’s needs, safety, communication and opportunities for participation, together with respectful dialogue with parents or guardians.

Planning should also make clear how personal assistance relates to school, preschool, leisure activities and healthcare without replacing the responsibilities of those organisations.

Considering A Change of Provider?

You can explore a change before making a decision.

  • What is working well today?

  • What would you like to improve?

  • What communication and continuity do you expect?

  • Are there existing assistants you hope may continue?

  • What would a transition involve?

You may be looking for clearer communication, greater influence or an arrangement that better suits your everyday life. An initial conversation is non-binding. We can help you clarify what works today, what you would like to change and what a possible transition may involve
